SYNOPSIS -
Whenever times get scary, I often run away to places like this. People are never my medicine. They're usually what I'm running from. The Earth has always been my salve.
So, why do I either create desert or mountains when I do landscapes? Good question. I grew up in both.........at the same time. I lived in a narrow canyon that was maybe a quarter mile wide and on the West side were the San Bernardino Mountains leading to Crestline and Big Bear. On the East side was Cleghorn Mountain and the Mojave Desert. I've seen Joshua Trees and Yucca grow right beside Pine and Black Oak. The water? dividing all of this was the East Fork of the Mojave River and it emptied into a large lake; Silverwood. It was here, as a little boy, when things got scary at home, I would run off to my "Secret Spots".....sometimes for the day. Sometimes for days.
Now you know the inspiration behind my landscape pieces.
